The Chief Medical Officer of Health and the Province of Ontario lifted many of the pandemic restrictions that have been in place. As a public education system, HPEDSB is required to follow the directives of provincial and local health officials, in addition to those of the Minister of Education. Please read this letter from Director of Education, Katherine MacIver, for more information about the changes that will come into effect in schools on March 21, 2022.
The Ministry of Education has confirmed that students will return to in-person learning on Monday, January 17, 2022. ESS staff are actively working to prepare for this return, including establishing processes to confirm daily COVID-19 screening, and other health and safety measures. Update Letter for ESS Students
As a part of Ontario's response to recent trends in COVID infection and hospitalization rates, all publicly funded and private schools have been directed to move to remote learning starting January 5 until at least January 17, subject to public health trends and operational considerations. Eastside Secondary School students are asked to read a letter from administration regarding returning to learning for January 2022 here.
Semester Two Schedule Update

The Government of Ontario is providing take-home rapid antigen testing kits for students in publicly-funded schools to promote a safer return to school after the December break. These kits have been delivered to schools of Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board and will be provided to students of Eastside Secondary School
The rapid antigen tests are being offered to any student attending in-person learning, regardless of their vaccination status.
