Our Raven athletes learn to excel by way of a full range of extra-curricular sports teams and Phys Ed courses including our Academy of Sport SHSM options and aquatics. ESS is also proud to be a provider of the Hockey Canada Skills Academy!

    Learning in the Arts nurtures expression, increases engagement, and hones emotional intelligence. Our Ravens explore their creativity through a number of Visual Arts courses including Ceramics and Photography, Drama courses, and Music courses. Beyond the classroom, students celebrate the Arts through our Coffee Houses, Improv Team, and much more.

    At ESS we promote opportunities for students to act as role models, innovators, and leaders. Working in mentoring and coaching roles, our students strengthen their relationships to one another and to our whole school. The provincial government announced that March Break will be delayed to the week of April 12, 2021. This decision was made based on advice of Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health and public health officials.  For further information, please read the letter from Director Sean Monteith available here.

 

Important Update Regarding In-Person Teaching and Learning for January 2021

In accordance with provincial direction received earlier these holidays from the Minister of Education, Eastside Secondary School will be closed to in-person teaching and learning until January 25, 2021.

Semester Two Reminders

Eastside Secondary School is fortunate to have the knowledge and skills of Ashley, our public health nurse, supporting the wellbeing of our students.  Ashley is onsite every Wednesday in the Guidance Office.  She is committed to helping students to navigate all aspects of their health.  

 

As the pandemic continues, we know it can be difficult to keep up with public health precautions. We are reaching out to parents and caregivers to help us as an Eastside Secondary School staff to help us keep our students safe. Discover the Foundations and International Baccalaureate Programs at ESS!
The International Baccalaureate Program is designed to develop citizens who become lifelong learners by way of exposure to curriculum which stimulates their curiosity, fosters a spirit of discovery, and inspires an enjoyment of learning.  Eastside Secondary School is proud to offer students the challenging, enriching experience of both the IB program and our Grade 9 and 10 Foundations program.  Foundations allows students to develop the knowledge and skills required to succeed in the International Baccalaureate Program and in university.

Raven families are asked to think about whether their students will learn at in-person school or virtual school starting in February (Semester 2). Advance planning is required to ensure staff are in place for safe and effective school operations; your cooperation is appreciated.

If students will remain at Eastside or at the Virtual School, no action is required. If families wish to move a child, please contact the Main Office at ESS as soon as possible and no later than by January 6, 2021.
