Our Raven athletes learn to excel by way of a full range of extra-curricular sports teams and Phys Ed courses including our Academy of Sport SHSM options and aquatics. ESS is also proud to be a provider of the Hockey Canada Skills Academy!

    Learning in the Arts nurtures expression, increases engagement, and hones emotional intelligence. Our Ravens explore their creativity through a number of Visual Arts courses including Ceramics and Photography, Drama courses, and Music courses. Beyond the classroom, students celebrate the Arts through our Coffee Houses, Improv Team, and much more.

    At ESS we promote opportunities for students to act as role models, innovators, and leaders. Working in mentoring and coaching roles, our students strengthen their relationships to one another and to our whole school. Important Information Regarding September 2021 School Scheduling

Based on direction from the Ministry of Education, Eastside Secondary School and other secondary schools in Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board is planning to operate full-time, in person and with a continued emphasis on cohorting students to limit student-to-student contact.  This will result in ESS following a quadmester schedule.  Please see the letter from Director Monteith here for further information.

Relay for Life at Eastside Secondary School

Today, nearly 1 in 2 Canadians are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Our Eastside Ravens are fighting back and we are asking for your help.  Please learn more about our Virtual Relay for Life taking place Monday, June 7th to Friday, June 11th.

With your support, we can fund groundbreaking research and able to provide a national support system for people with cancer, their caregivers and their families.

 

On April 12, 2021, the provincial government announced that the return to in-person learning for Ontario students after the April break will be delayed. This announcement was made in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health for Ontario, and was based on what provincial public health officials feel is in the best interests of our students, staff and their families.

Eastside Secondary School students will be actively supported during this remote learning period by all ESS staff.  Please follow us on Twitter and Facebook, and through students' @apps email accounts, for ongoing updates. 

 

There will be no school for students the week of April 12th to April 16th.  Octomester 6 will end on April 9th.  Octomester 7 will begin on April 19th.

We wish all of our Ravens a safe, healthy break -- it has been well-earned!

Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board is planning for the majority of students to return to in-person learning with enhanced safety precautions in place in September 2021. However, given ongoing uncertainly regarding future outcomes in the face of COVID-19, we will continue to offer a virtual school as part of our pandemic response in the 2021-2022 school year.  HPEDSB will offer a Kindergarten to Grade 10 Virtual School option, should families decide it fits their child/ren’s style of learning and meets the needs of their family. Programming for Grade 11 and 12 students will be provided through their home secondary school.
