Loran Scholars
Description and application: Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident with a minimum cumulative average of 85%. Up to 30 Loran Awards, valued at up to $100 000 will be awarded. Loran will also grant up to 40 $3000 finalist awards and 40 $2000 provincial awards. There are 2 ways to apply: Sponsored Candidates and Direct Pool Candidates. Eastside can sponsor up to 3 candidates. If you wish to be considered for one of these spots, you must submit a rough copy of your application with a reference letter to the guidance office. Student who have an average 90% or above, demonstrate original and creative thinking, involvement in school or community activities, and proven leadership qualities may apply for a major admission Award. Schulich Leader Scholarships
Students demonstrate academic excellence, leadership and/or financial need. He or she is entrepreneurial minded and pursuing a career in technology, innovation, engineering and scientific research. In order to become a Schulich Leader and receive the scholarship, students must first be selected by their high school or Cégep as Schulich Leader Nominee. The Jack R. Sisson Bursary Fund
The Jack R. Sisson Bursary Fund was established in 2014 to recognize his 32 years of exemplary contributions as teacher, coach and high school Principal. The Fund was specifically created to pay tribute to his 18 years of dedication to Quinte Secondary School (QSS), and his significant support and contributions to the growth and development of athletics at both the local and provincial levels.
The Fund awards two bursaries annually to one female and one male student graduating from QSS and proceeding to post-secondary education at a college or university in Canada. Students will have demonstrated skills in athletics, leadership in the school community, a sense of fair play and team spirit.
Robert Argue Scholarship
The Robert Argue Scholarship Award was founded in honor of Bob Argue, the chief architect behind the creation of the recycling and waste reduction program that currently serves the Centre & South Hastings area, including Prince Edward County. Hugh P. O’Neil Bursary
The Hugh P. O’Neil Bursary fund was established in 1995 by the Quinte Provincial Liberal Association to recognize the contributions of the late Hugh O’Neil, former MPP, during more than 20 years of political life, and in particular to honour his significant support of the arts both provincially and locally. $500 bursaries to students graduating from secondary schools in the Quinte Riding (as it existed in 1995). Professional Engineers Ontario - Quinte Chapter Award
For a graduating student who will be attending an Engineering faculty at an Ontario University. Applications will be assessed for academic record (35%), extracurricular activities and community service (20%), interest in pursuing a career in engineering (35%), and teacher and personal references (10%).
