Online Engagement: Ontario FNMI Education Policy Feedback requested
The Ministry of Education has collaborated with a team of researchers who will engage with students, parents/guardians and families, teaching and non-teaching staff, Indigenous communities, organizations and partners, and school board to gather feedback and input to inform the development of the Third Progress Report on the implementation of the First Nations, Metis and Inuit Education Policy Framework.
As part of the data collection process, we are pleased to share with you the release of an online survey that can be accessed here - Third Progress Report. This survey is intended to capture the successes and help to identify promising practices and opportunities to provide further support to enhance the achievement and well-being of Indigenous students. Survey access will be available until June 23, 2017.
There is also the opportunity of online focus groups. For more information on these groups and additional details, click on the link to Letter to Families.

Presenting a "Moira Minute" featuring Joe Brown talking about our new Indigenous Gathering Space
Moira Secondary School is proud to announce that our technology expertise has now moved us into the radio broadcasting field with the production of a “Moira Minute”. Our technology department has partnered with Loyalist College to provide the opportunity to create and produce broadcasts on a weekly basis for 91X FM that airs at 4:40 pm and 8:40 pm on Fridays.
This week’s Moira Minute features Joe Brown, one of our Indigenous educational counsellors at the school, talking about our new Indigenous Gathering Space. This project has developed through the close partnership with our Mohawk community and we are looking forward to the development of new learning to support all students in Indigenous ways of knowing at the school and in the community. St John Ambulance Therapy Dog program to visit Jan 16th
Moira Secondary School prides ourselves on creating a welcoming, inclusive, safe and accepting learning environment that optimizes student’s potential. St John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program will be in our school on Monday January 16, during the lunch hour. This program provides services in a wide range of community settings including schools. For the visit, students and employees are provided with an opportunity to touch, feel, pet and cuddle with the therapy dogs. The St. John Ambulance therapy dog, accompanied by a volunteer handler, offers comfort and companionship to individuals. We look forward to this great opportunity for our school.
