ESS staff are actively working to prepare for this return, including establishing processes to confirm daily COVID-19 screening, and other health and safety measures. Eastside Secondary School students are asked to read a letter from administration regarding returning to learning for January 2022 here.

  • Rapid Antigen Tests

    The Government of Ontario is providing take-home rapid antigen testing kits for students in publicly-funded schools to promote a safer return to school after the December break. These kits have been delivered to schools of Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board and will be provided to students of Eastside Secondary School

    The rapid antigen tests are being offered to any student attending in-person learning, regardless of their vaccination status.

At Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, the goal is to keep students safe and learning at school.  Therefore, working in partnership with Hastings Prince Edward Public Health, a new enhanced daily screeening tool has been implemented for all students, staff, and visitors to schools.

Beginning December 7, 2021, anyone going to a school must pass the provincial screening tool AND the HPE Enhanced Screening Tool before going to school. The updated HPE Enhanced Screening Tool includes the following:
• daily screening for sore throat or difficulty swallowing;
• runny or stuffy nose;
• abdominal pain;
• headache (unusual or long lasting);
• conjunctivitis (pink eye); or
• decreased/lack of appetite.
